Digital Framework

Build responsive, mobile-first projects on the web with the brand-approved SLAL Digital Framework

The  Digital Framework  is a toolkit for building modern, accessible, on-brand user interfaces. It is the online partner for Standard Life’s Digital Guidelines.

As well as providing access to pre-built, browser-compliant ‘Components’ (such as buttons, typography and form elements), the framework provides an extensive collection of ‘CSS Utilities’ which Developers can use to quickly deliver custom user interfaces without any need for additional code.

Build quickly and responsively

Modern, mobile first design

All components are built responsively, mobile-first, enabling quick project builds without the need for in-depth knowledge.

AA Accessible

Each component has been tested to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA success criteria.

Open source model

Framework is maintained by Phoenix’s IT Software Engineering’s Web Development Team, and follows an open source model. Find out how you can contribute in the  contributor documentation.

Get started

The Digital Framework has two parts;

Source documentation

This is where you will find all pre-built components and CSS utility classes, along with full documentation on what they are, how to use them and any accessibility or browser compliance considerations.

Live examples

As well as being able to use pre-built components, Developers can satisfy bespoke design solutions by using the CSS utility classes in the main library to develop their own custom components. The Framework easily enables this. The Examples page is where you can find all approved custom components, which are brand-compliant and available for Developers to re-use.
